Colette Vintage Five Stone Ring - Stainless Steel Gold

A little antique, without the auction.

A 4mm round stone sits at the centre, flanked by two marquise-shaped settings and two smaller rounds — five stones across the top. It is how rings were built before a single large centre stone became the convention, and it gives the ring width without weight.

The band is 1.1mm. That is very fine, finer than most stacking bands, so the setting reads as the whole ring and the metal almost disappears against the finger. Wear it alone where it looks quietly antique, or stack it and let the shaped settings break up a row of plain bands.

The gold is a PVD coating, not a plating — the colour is bonded to the stainless steel under vacuum rather than sitting on top of it, so it does not wear thin at the edges or fade with time. It will not tarnish and will not turn your finger green.
